Pool Party Turned Mud Party!

Our POOL PARTY POTLUCK PLAYDATE was a big success! Lots of yummy snacks from the mommies and lots of fun with the kids. Of course I had attempted to prevent "mudfest
from happening but of course it is what ended up happening and they had more fun in the mud than the pool. Oh well time to loosen up a bit and let kids be kids!!!

Our Favorite Snack was hands down Katie's yummy
Oatmeal Raisin Bars:

Here's the recipe:

Ingredients

Makes 16

  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted, plus more for pan
  • 3/4 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
  • 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats (not quick-cooking)
  • 1 cup raisins

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter an 8-inch square baking pan. Line bottom with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides; butter paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together butter, sugars, egg, salt, and cinnamon until smooth. Add flour, oats, and raisins; fold in just until combined.
  3. Spread batter in prepared pan, and bake until a toothpick inserted in center comes out with moist crumbs attached, 25 to 30 minutes. Cool completely in pan. Using paper overhang, lift cake onto a work surface; cut into 16 bars.

Helpful Hint

To store, keep in an airtight container at room temperature, up to 3 days.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame.................

Take me out to the crowd..............David & Sawyer enjoyed a Rockies game on Sunday. The Colorado Rockies vs. the New York Mets, David's two favorite teams. A little father son time which I hope turns into a summer time tradition for them, going to the ballpark, enjoying a hot dog, and time together. Of course Maggie and I had some girl time while they were gone, lunch, Barnes & Noble, and window shopping--
oh and of course a Starbucks!! We also went to Golden Ponds in Longmont for a little hike and church on Sunday morning. We managed to do all this this weekend amidst my crazy new "part-time" job and I use that term loosely.............I managed to put in 17 hours this weekend alone!! Enjoy the pics...................

Our Favorite Park - Well One of Them!

Sawyer enjoying the water feature, was a bit chilly that day but he didn't seem to mind. He did enjoy though hugging me when he was all wet.

David Catches A Grounder With His Face!

David played in a Softball Tournament last Saturday with his work while we were in Kansas. I received a phone call with David that started like this, "Well I didn't lose any teeth." But he did have to literally pull his lips out of his teeth he got smacked so hard, he also told me that he probably needed a few stitches but do you think he went to the dr? NO! When we got home from Kansas I could not stop saying, "I can't believe how bad that looks!" His lips were HUGE, they were so swollen, and of course it was our 8 Year Anniversary so no hanky panky here, ha ha.

David was also concerned about the state of his lips because he volunteered to coach Sawyer's T-Ball team and he didn't want the kids to know that he had taken a grounder to the face for fear they would never catch a ball in their lives after seeing what it could do to your face!!! But anyhow here are some pics of the LIPS and of David's coaching debut which by the way he did an awesome job with the kids.

Can you say PUDDIN POP with lips the size of Angeli Jolie's????

MAKE OFFER
You Wouldn't believe How Many offers I got on her!!!

The kids & I just spent 5 glorious days in sunny Northwest Kansas on the farm and garage saleing in good ol Brewster. Ok I have to make it sound more glamorous than it was because it will be my only vacation this summer!! We did have a great time though.

Where else can you walk into your childhood home and see a "Fetal Extractor" sitting on the porch. Yes a Fetal Extractor. A device used to "pull" a calf. Lovely huh?!?!

And where else can your son go bale hay, see a chopped in half bull snake, catch a toad, check the corn crop, eat pizza, go to Dairy Queen, and haul water to the cows- ALL IN ONE DAY!!! Sawyer and Maggie had a blast hanging out with Granny & Papa Bowman and Great Grandma & Grandpa Harper and of course Macey Woo Hoo, Mama Kitty, BoBo, and Poppy. Maggie mostly hung on my leg but you get the idea, the kids love going to the farm. And I love that there is a farm to go to with grandparents who love my kids as much as I do. I'm sure they enjoy the peace and quiet when we leave too!!

MACEY WOO HOO Visits her City Cousins........

Macey Woo Hoo came to spend a few days with the Harnig clan. We went to JumpStreet which is off of I25 & 84th and had a blast, the kids were exhausted after an hour of jumping in the room of trampolines. Then we hit FlatIrons mall and had lunch out in the giant sandbox. That night we watched E.T. which Macey had never seen and holy cow that movie is 28 years old and that makes me feel REALLY old. I told Macey I would have 3 kids if one of them could be her age and as good as her with Maggie & Sawyer.

Club Med @ Uncle Bubba & Aunt Rachel's

I'm not sure who has more toys, Sawyer & Maggie or Aunt Rachel & Uncle Bubba!! We spent last Sunday at their house enjoying their new pool and having a BBQ with the whole Dysfunction Junction Hahn Clan. Yes we were all able to be in the same backyard sharing a hot dog & beer, now who knows if that will be possible next week but hey enjoy the family love while it lasts. I could almost hear "We are Family" playing in the background as we sat around the patio table. We weren't quite at Kum-By-Ya but I'll take it. The kids love spending time with their crazy aunts & uncles, Cousin Isabelle, Cousin Pugley, and Grandma & Grandpa Hahn and these are the things memories are made of......................
